Happy 100th Birthday Maria!

María nació en Jalisco, México el 21 de mayo de 1922. Llegó a Chicago con su

hijos para reencontrarse con su esposo en 1950. María tuvo siete hijos: María, Alicia, María J., Manuel, Nancy, Yolanda y Grace. La familia vivió en el área de Little Italy durante varios años. Cuando se mudaron al vecindario de McKinley Park, se convirtieron en feligreses de SS. Pedro y Pablo María disfrutó abriendo su casa para reuniones familiares y sociales. Ella se convirtió en conocida por sus "domingos de comida", donde sus hijos y sus familias se relajaban y disfrutaban comidas compartidas. Sus pasatiempos incluían la costura y el ganchillo, pero le encantaba un buen libro, que todavía disfruta hoy. Mientras celebra este hito del regalo de la vida, su familia, amigos y feligreses dicen con alegría,

“¡Feliz cumpleaños número 100, María!”

Maria was born in Jalisco, Mexico on May 21, 1922. She arrived in Chicago with her

children to reunite with her husband in 1950. Maria had seven children: Maria, Alicia, Maria J.,

Manuel, Nancy, Yolanda, and Grace. The family lived in the Little Italy area for several years.

When they moved to the McKinley Park neighborhood, they became parishioners of SS. Peter

and Paul. Maria enjoyed opening her home for family and social gatherings. She became

known for “her pot luck Sundays,” where her children and their families would relax and enjoy

shared meals.

Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting, but she absolutely loved a good book,

which she still enjoys today. As she celebrates this milestone of the gift of life, her family,

friends, and parishioners joyously say,

“ Happy 100th Birthday, Maria!”
